Job Description

As a Project Engineer – Structures, you will be responsible for leading a team of staff to tackle complex structural engineering projects. You will have the ability to work on a variety of tasks, ranging from new and retrofit design to peer review and analysis. There is room in this role to focus your skills on projects, as well as management and marketing tasks. You will monitor project budgets and will be responsible for producing projects that are on time and up to the Maffei standard.

Required Qualifications

  • Three or more years of employment experience in design of steel and concrete structures.
  • PE license.
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.

Desired Qualifications

  • Success with client relations and business development.
  • Experience with nonlinear structural analysis.
  • Experience with SAP2000 or ETABS structural analysis programs.
  • Experience with Revit modeling and drawing production.
  • SE license.

Job Description

The successful candidate will oversee Maffei’s portfolio of renewable energy projects to provide industry-leading structural engineering services to our clients. Projects will vary in size and scope and may include feasibility studies, investigations, peer reviews, product development support, construction drawings, structural calculations, and construction administration tasks. The successful candidate will work alongside Rob Ward, Maffei’s senior structural engineer who is a veteran of the solar industry. The work location is full-time remote, or full-time or part-time in our San Francisco office.

Job Duties

  • Take responsibility for the management of renewable energy projects to provide clients with top-notch results on time and on budget.
  • Increase the firm’s success and work to develop new clients, build client relations, and lead marketing efforts in the renewable energy field.
  • Develop and monitor project budgets and schedules and prepare proposals for new projects.
  • Oversee and mentor junior staff.
  • Lead by example to build firm culture and values.
  • Direct projects and oversee work of others to maintain high technical standards.
  • Provide high level technical expertise focused on adding value to our clients and on maintaining Maffei’s position as an innovative thought leader.

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of employment experience in structural design.
  • PE license.
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.

Desired Qualifications

  • Success with client relations and business development.
  • Experience with the design of support structures for solar arrays.
  • Strong interest in renewable energy and distributed energy resources.
  • Experience with cold-formed steel and aluminum design.
  • Experience with SAP2000 or ETABS structural analysis programs.
  • Experience with drawing production using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • SE license.
  • PE license in multiple states.
  • NCEES record.

Job Description

You will collaborate closely with team members on projects ranging from new building and seismic retrofit design to advanced analysis and peer review. Daily tasks, done under supervision of a senior engineer, include preparing structural calculations and drawings, building structural analysis models and interpreting results, writing and organizing reports

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering w/ emphasis on structural engineering.
  • Experience and skills in teamwork and leadership.

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous work experience, including volunteering or internship.

Job Description

Intern positions are full-time, paid positions, typically 10–12 weeks in duration during the spring or summer semesters. Our structured intern program gives you a wide variety of experiences, working with different managers on a good mix of project types. On each assignment, you will work closely with a project manager who will guide your efforts, answer your questions, and review your work.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of junior or senior year of undergraduate degree, or in process of obtaining graduate degree, in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Eager to ask questions and learn.

  • Experience and skills in teamwork and leadership.

Job Description

Our three-day externship program introduces curious students to the field of structural engineering. Participants will go through a structured learning program including presentations about the industry, example project work, and Young Engineers’ meetings. Participants will be awarded a stipend to compensate them for their time.

  • Pursuing a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, or related field
