ASCE SE2050 Program

Maffei Structural Engineering is a proud signatory to the SE 2050 Commitment Program, a program developed by the Sustainability Committee of the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Being a signatory of the program indicates commitment to the SE 2050 Challenge, which is that: “All structural engineers shall understand, reduce and ultimately eliminate embodied carbon in their projects by 2050.”

Maffei Structural Engineering is a small firm that takes pride in finding creative and successful solutions to challenging structural engineering projects. We seek to be on the forefront of structural engineering technology and to be a source of positive growth for our employees and for our community. With these goals in mind, we are excited to participate in SE 2050.

After decades of warnings, the effects of increased greenhouse gases in the atmosphere are now becoming exceedingly apparent. In order to mitigate these effects to the greatest extent, all of us must examine where we can bring about changes that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As structural engineers, we see the SE 2050 Program as an important opportunity for us. We are eager to learn, innovate, collaborate, and ultimately incorporate changes in our work that will contribute to the goal of structures that are carbon-neutral by 2050. Working together with a focus on sustainable design and carbon reduction, we can help make our planet a better place for the generations to come.
