Karl TelleenSenior Engineer | SE, LEED AP
Karl Telleen brings thirteen years of diverse experience encompassing design practice and research. His work spans a range of project types, including design of new steel and concrete structures, seismic evaluation and retrofit of existing buildings, seismic peer review of high-rise buildings, and design and analysis of solar arrays subjected to wind and seismic forces.
In 2010, he completed a Fulbright Fellowship studying structural design and high-performance concrete materials in Switzerland. He performed post-earthquake reconnaissance work studying concrete buildings in Haiti following the January 2010 earthquake, and he participated in the ATC-94 project Seismic Performance of Reinforced Concrete Buildings in the 2010 Chile Earthquake. In 2017 he was elected to be a Housner Fellow.
Karl served as Director and Treasurer of the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California (SEAONC). He serves on the SEAOC Solar Photovoltaic Systems Committee and co-authored updates and design examples for the SEAOC PV2 Report Wind Design for Low-Profile Solar Photovoltaic Arrays on Flat Roofs. He co-authored the Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC) Structural/Seismic Design Manual concrete wall examples, and papers in the journals Earthquake Spectra, Concrete International, and the ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering.
