Veronica Crothers came to Maffei Structural Engineering with experience spanning diverse structural engineering applications including piers, floating structures, site condition assessments, and fast-tracked design-build projects. She helped analyze and design the Gulf Intercoastal Waterway Floating Barge Gate, winner of the 2013 SEAONC Award of Excellence for special use structures. Her recent projects include seismic evaluation and retrofit of hospitals and mixed-use buildings, and rehabilitation of existing structures for special uses. At Maffei Structural Engineering, Veronica has conducted nonlinear response-history analyses (NLRHA) of tall buildings and also peer reviewed such analyses. She has designed and analyzed solar energy structures subjected to wind and seismic forces, including NLRHA of unattached rooftop solar arrays. She has developed programs that automate and optimize structural calculations and design for solar structures.
Veronica has a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from University of California, Berkeley. She has earned a number of awards including the 2008 AISC/Structural Steel Educators Council Fellowship and the Structural Engineer’s Association of Northern California scholarship.
