San Francisco’s Concrete Building Screening Program

In May 2025, San Francisco passed an ordinance to assess the City’s inventory of seismically vulnerable Concrete Buildings and Rigid-Wall-Flexible-Diaphragm (RWFD) buildings. The ordinance defines voluntary seismic retrofit standards.

The Maffei team is a leader in the industry in evaluating and retrofitting concrete buildings.  We are available to review your building to help you meet the City’s screening requirements, and to give you an idea of whether it would need retrofitting to meet the City’s voluntary standards.

  • The Department of Building Inspection (SFDBI) has published the screening form and building owners will need to complete and submit the form to SFDBI by June 9th 2027.
  • There is a separate ordinance requiring inspection of facades of buildings having five or more stories, for which some buildings (built between 1926 and 1970) have a reporting deadline of December 31, 2025. Our team can assist in complying with this ordinance.
